What To Expect

In getting started with clinical counselling services, we will first meet over the phone for a brief consultation. We will move forward by scheduling a clinical assessment which will be followed by scheduled weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

Consultation

The first meeting will be a brief consultation, offered free of charge over the phone to determine if counselling is the right step for you.

Clinical Assessment

Assessment is a tool used to determine readiness for counselling service and provide direction in the creation of a treatment plan. Counselling services can be offered as short-term, long-term, crisis, or on-going. Each option offering different flexibility which is primarily based on client need and ability to safely reach goals in a prolonged or complex time frame. By focusing on targeted questions, the assessment will assist us in deciding together what will suit your counselling needs best. Topic Question Examples include:

-      Emotional response to challenge
-      Cultural consideration
-      Current level of distress
-      Support system in place
-      Community roles
-      Household/family roles
-      History of presenting challenge

Sessions

After completing a clinical assessment, the therapist will provide the client with an individualized service/treatment plan which includes number of sessions and treatment approaches that will be used in therapy. Once mutually agreed upon, the client can then begin regular scheduled sessions.
